Alternately calling Agnes either “Mulder” or “Bones,” Alan is an FBI field officer that is less her partner and more her handler. A gifted field agent with an undergrad education in forensic chemistry, Alan is stubborn as all get out and that’s probably why he hasn’t moved further up: resistance to mental powers. Thus, he gets the cases that are weird but not too weird. Since he’s already hit some kind of weird wall in his advancement that he doesn’t understand, Alan is happy to be an ally. He frequently gives Agnes and her friends tip-offs about any police actions he hears about that might impact them, such as protest crackdowns.
