Going through the cabin door
-
We open the door and there is a dense bank of mist through the door
-
Blaze is the first through and about six inches in she disappears into the mist
-
I follow next and then the rest of the group does the same
-
We can't really see each other as we proceed down the corridor which the doorframe seems to have transformed into
-
We realize that we've gone through a portal into the Far Dreaming
-
While in the Far Dreaming, the following system is in place:
-
Wyrd cantrips don’t cost Glamour, base Difficulty 6, +1 Die Unleashing
-
Recover 1 Glamour per hour
-
Gradually lose Banality (10 days per dot) that returns on exit
-
Clurichans: Disappearing doesn’t cost Glamour, Target must spend WP to roll to resist Fighting Words, Roll WP diff 8 to avoid trying to grab something for hoard
-
We come out into a picturesque, quaint, little fishing village
-
Everything looks like a Pixar movie
-
This place likely would have looked differently if we were here before Pixar became a thing
-
The water is covered in fog after a few feet out from the shore
-
We only have our chimerical belongings
-
Agnes writes in the dirt that this place is called Pike's Crossing
-
She evidently can't speak here because she's a sluagh
-
The name is one that was mentioned in our vision:
-
One of them says "The Crystal Falls was a trap; the white mist was a dead giveaway"
-
Something was said about should not have trusted the satyr in Pike's Crossing
-
We spot a woman who looks to run a library out of her home
-
Upon seeing her, we instinctually know about her
-
She's a chimerical creation of a human being; a true NPC, if you will,
-
Sylvia Brightglen:
-
A bookish and contemplative librarian with a keen intellect, Sylvia is the custodian of knowledge in Pike's Crossing. She shares a mentor-protege relationship with Erik Frostbloom, the solitary fisherman, exchanging insights on ancient texts and healing arts. While maintaining the village's library, Sylvia hides a secret fascination with conducting secret experiments to create a potion that would grant the ability to speak with animals. This eccentric endeavor is known only to Erik and Rowan Stormcaller, the ship captain, who assists Sylvia in gathering rare ingredients from the Far Dreaming. Despite her reserved nature, Sylvia's passion for unlocking the mysteries of the Dreaming and its creatures drives her to explore new realms of knowledge, concealed beneath her quiet and scholarly exterior.
-
Sister of Elara Brightglen.
-
She doesn't know anything about the Crystal Falls or have any books that mention it
-
There is a book dedicated to all the various sea monsters that have been encountered here in the town, Whispers of the Deep: Legends of the Lake
-
Mayor Stonehelm
-
"Look for the man in the blue jacket and green vest" Sylvia tells us when I ask who the burgermeister or mayor who might hold keys
-
The esteemed and respected leader of Pike's Crossing, Mayor Alaric commands the village with a regal air and an undeniable air of authority. He is the son of Oscar Stonehelm, the town elder. Behind his role as the village leader lies a hidden passion for knitting and crafting, a hobby known only to a select few. Mayor Alaric, while appearing as a figure of power and authority, has a soft and gentle side, finding solace in creating cozy socks for the townsfolk, a secret hidden beneath his esteemed persona.
-
He tells us he doesn't know anything about keys, and that there's only the one door in town that is locked (the one we came through)
-
When I ask about other travelers that have come through he mentions:
-
A man that is clearly a satyr, who sometimes comes through
-
A strange woman that is old, young, and middle aged all at the same time and lives past the edge of the town somewhere
-
He asks us if we know how to use our weapons
-
The town guard are out dealing with kobolds
-
He's interested in whether we'd be willing to help with that
-
He tells us we could talk to his father, Old Oscar Stonehelm, who might know more
-
We head towards the village inn and on the way pass by a couple bards outside
-
Cedric Frostbloom
-
A charismatic bard with a twinkle in his eye, Cedric is the entertainer of Pike's Crossing, captivating villagers with his captivating tales and songs. He shares a complex relationship with Gwendolyn Sunwing, the skilled archer, engaging in friendly banter while secretly nursing a crush on her. Despite his magnetic stage presence, Cedric hides a fear of performing in front of large crowds, confiding this vulnerability only to Gwendolyn and Aria Mistwood, his playful apprentice. His penchant for storytelling is matched only by his secret stage fright, which drives him to perform in more intimate settings, seeking solace in the warmth of smaller audiences while keeping his fear hidden beneath his confident facade.
-
He is a longtime rival of Oliver Meadowsong in town council debates.
-
Moira gets some paper (with musical notations on the back) and a wax pencil from him for Agnes
-
Aria Mistwood
-
A vibrant and mischievous young apprentice in Pike's Crossing, Aria is under the tutelage of Cedric Frostbloom, the charismatic bard. She shares a budding romantic relationship with Rowan Stormcaller, the seasoned fisherman, engaging in playful interactions between her lessons. Aria possesses a natural talent for music and a mischievous glint in her eyes, often enchanting the villagers with her melodic tunes. Secretly, she attempts to practice magic tricks to impress her friends, despite her lack of proficiency in them. Her playful spirit and efforts to master magic tricks reveal a determined nature beneath her cheerful and lively demeanor.
-
Blaze spots a stoic captain listening to the bards play
-
Rowan Stormcaller
-
A seasoned fisherman of Pike's Crossing, Rowan is recognized for his superstitions and reliance on rituals for luck during sea voyages. He is courting young Aria Mistwood, the bard's apprentice, often teasing her about her imaginative stories. Unbeknownst to many, Rowan has a peculiar habit of conducting sea rituals during fishing trips, a practice known only to Aria and Sylvia Brightglen, the librarian. Despite his superstitious nature, Rowan's steadfast belief in rituals and lucky charms hides beneath his easygoing and amiable demeanor.
-
We're approached by an eager stableboy on our way into the inn, whose mother runs it
-
Finn Moonwater
-
A youthful and adventurous lad in Pike's Crossing, Finn is known for his boundless curiosity and energetic nature. He is the son of Isabella Moonwater, the innkeeper. Secretly, Finn sneaks out at night to eavesdrop on the town council meetings, a habit known only to Daphne Ironwing, his cousin. Despite his mischievous tendencies, Finn's curiosity drives him to seek knowledge, concealed behind his innocent and playful demeanor.
-
Isabella Moonwater
-
An enigmatic innkeeper in Pike's Crossing, Isabella is known for her expertise in crafting all variety of fine foods. She is the mother of Finn, the curious lad. Despite her reputation as being beyond reproof, Isabella harbors a hidden talent: she possesses the ability to impersonate the village elders and mimic their voices. This clandestine skill is known only to Finn and Elara Silverstream, the dreamy artist, her childhood friend. Isabella's mysterious aura conceals her playful talent for mimicry, a secret kept beneath her calm and composed exterior.
-
We have drinks and a seafood stew that are all very fine, and about the time we start thinking of how we'll pay, there's a ruckus outside and a call to arms
-
"There are so many of them and they have a DRAGON!"
-
Coming down from the hills and over a footbridge into town, a swarm of kobolds comes tramping in wielding sticks and rocks, some with knives at their belts
-
A house sized dragon lands on the docks, dropping more kobolds
-
We engage them to defend the town!
-
I fill their boots and clap their legs with stones summoned via Eldritch Prime
-
It does not go super well for us (so many 1's), but we manage to pull it off
-
The captain of the two person town guard agrees to show us to the place where the weird woman that is three lives
-
He also mentions something about the key to the city
-
The moire, Myst, speaks to us, saying we're earlier than expected
-
This woman seems to have two spectral images of herself at different ages standing over either shoulder. No matter your viewing angle, they always appear to be to either side of her and slightly behind. Often, their mouths move in tandem with her speech, but their facial expressions and movements usually differ from her own.
-
She confirms we'll be back here at some point, with our group of 12, at which point she'll join
-
She confirms there is a satyr in the area, and he is a scoundrel
-
We return to Pike's Crossing and are presented with the key to the town by the Mayor
-
It shrinks and changes to a size that will fit the locked door back
-
Aoife has this key
-
Moira collects 5 dots of chimerical dragon scale as supplies
-
Enough to make five 1 point items, one 5 point items, or some other distribution
-
We return back home
-
The Mists mean that our memories are jumbled and hazy, like a dream we've woken from, Moira and Blaze slightly less so
-
Pneumatic says we were only gone for a moment
-
We plan on going through the pub room door next time, but maybe after I get a good day of rest
